GMX Search: Settings

When using GMX Search, you have a variety of options to customize your search and adjust it to your personal needs and preferences.

Change language

When using GMX Search, you can specify the language of your choice for the user interface. It is also possible to specify which language should be preferred in the search.

Please keep in mind that if you delete your browser history, all your personal GMX Search settings will be reset.

User interface language

  1. On the GMX Search Home page, scroll down to the footer and click Settings.

    OR

    Initiate a search query and click Settings in the bar below the search term.

  2. From the menu under Language, select the language in which you want the page and most of the results to be displayed.
  3. Save your settings by clicking Save.
The GMX Search user interface is displayed in the language you set.
Search results language

  1. On the GMX Search Home page, scroll down to the footer and click Settings.

    OR

    Initiate a search query and click Settings in the bar below the search term.

  2. 2. From menu under Language, check the box beside the language in which you want the search results to be displayed.
  3. Save your settings by clicking Save.
The search results of the GMX Search are displayed in the language you set.
Adapt search results to your location

With GMX Search, you can adapt the results to your location.

  1. On the GMX Search Home page, scroll down to the footer and click Settings.

    OR

    Initiate a search query and click Settings in the bar below the search term.

  2. From the menu under Region, select the location to which you want the results pages to match.
  3. Save your settings by clicking Save.
The GMX Search results pages will now adapt to your desired location.
Activate Family filter

To filter out explicit or adult content from the search results, you can activate a family filter for the GMX Search.

  1. On the GMX Search Home page, scroll down to the footer and click Settings.

    OR

    Initiate a search query and click Settings in the bar below the search term.

  2. Activate the Family filter by clicking on the slider (right position).
  3. Save your settings by clicking Save.
Content that may be harmful to minors is not displayed in search results.
Enable "Open links in new window" option

When you open a page from the search results, you can specify whether it should open in a new tab in the active browser window or in a new window.

  1. On the GMX Search Home page, scroll down to the footer and click Settings.

    OR

    Initiate a search query and click Settings in the bar below the search term.

  2. Under New Window, enable opening the search result links in a new browser window by clicking the slider (right position).
  3. Save your settings by clicking Save.
Search result links now open in a new browser window or tab instead of the same one.
Enable keyword completion

You can set whether search suggestions should be displayed below the search field as you type.

  1. On the GMX Search Home page, scroll down to the footer and click Settings.

    Initiate a search query and click Settings in the bar below the search term.

  2. Under Search suggestions/Auto complete, activate the display of search suggestions by clicking on the slider (right position).
  3. Save your settings by clicking Save.
Search suggestions are displayed below the search field as you type.
Change font size

You can easily change the font size using the settings page or your keyboard.

If you want to adjust the display size of the text and images on a web page, hold down the "Ctrl" key and scroll up with your mouse wheel to enlarge the view or down to reduce it. If you do not want to use the mouse wheel, you can also enlarge the view with "Ctrl" and "+" or reduce it with "-".

  2. From the menu under Display, select the font size in which you want the page and results to be displayed.
  3. Save your settings by clicking Save.
The font size will be adjusted according to your selection.
