Why did I get an error message when registering a new account?

Registration is not working? One possible source of a sign-up error is that GMX does not offer registration in all countries. You will get an error message like "your ip address suggests you are trying to sign up in a country where registration is no longer possible".

However, if you are trying to register in a region where GMX is available, the error may be due to the IP address, password or email address.
IP blocklisted temporarily
A temporary problem with the IP address you were using during the registration process may lead to an error message, for example if:
  • There have been too many unsuccessful attempts to create an account. This leads to the IP being blocked for several hours
  • The IP is blacklisted on one or multiple anti-spam lists. In this case, you will have to contact your internet service provider (ISP) to de-list the IP address.

If the error persists, we suggest you wait 24 to 48 hours and try again using a different IP address or internet connection, and, if possible, another computer. You should also make sure you are using the latest version of the internet browser.

Password is not secure enough
If, during the registration process, you select a password that is not sufficiently secure, you will receive an error message.

Problem with selected email address
If the email address you selected already exists or the words entered are banned from registration, you will receive an error message. Try registering again using a different email address.
