Edit or deactivate a share

If the contents of a shared folder are outdated or you no longer want to share a file, you can deactivate the link that is directed to it. It is also possible to change the share settings.

  1. Open the All shared data folder in your GMX Cloud via the menu on the left-hand side.
  2. If you are not in the list view, select it in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Move the mouse pointer over the item (a file, a folder, a collection or a photo/video) whose sharing you want to edit or deactivate.
    Four new icons will appear on the right-hand side of the screen.
  4. Click on the appropriate icon to perform one of the following actions:

    Edit or Deactivate Shares

    • Change share settings:

      Click on the cogwheel icon, make the desired settings in the following window and then click on Save.

       

    • Open share link:

      Click on the arrow icon to open the sharing link in a new window.

       

    • Copy share link:

      Click on the paperclip icon to copy the share link to the clipboard. You can paste it to the desired location by pressing Ctrl+V on the keyboard.

       

    • Deactivate share:

      To deactivate the share link, click on the X symbol and then confirm by clicking on Deactivate share. The file or folder will still appear in your Cloud, but without the shared icon.

Tip:

If you have shared multiple files or folders and want to change the name of this collection later, open the All shared data folder, select the collection there and click Share at the top. Change the name at the top of the window, click Save to the right of it and close the window. The new name will also be displayed to the recipient of your share link.
