Setting Up Outlook (POP3)

Retrieve your email from your GMX mailbox with Outlook. Your email will be sent to your application through POP3 whenever you want.

The free GMX Mail App is a much more convenient way to check your emails on your smartphone or tablet. You can download the GMX Mail App for Android from the Google PlayStore or for iOS from the Apple App Store.

How to add your email account to Outlook 2019

  1. To synchronize your emails with IMAP or POP3 you need to activate this feature in your GMX account. Click Email → Settings → POP3 & IMAP → Send and receive emails via external program [...]. Confirm the altered settings by clicking Save and start your external email program.

  2. Click File → Info → Add account.
    The Outlook wizard for setting up a new account will open up.
  3. Enter an email address to add your account.
  4. Click on Advanced options and check the box for Let me set up my account manually.
  5. Click on Connect.
  6. Choose the account type POP.
    The dialog POP Account Settings will open up.
  7. Take the following settings:
    1. Incoming mail: Enter pop.gmx.com with port 995 and check the option This server requires an encrypted conncetion (SSL/TLS)
    2. Outgoing mail: Enter mail.gmx.com with port 587 an the encryption method STARTTLS (recommended)
    Please note:

    You can only use a TLS protocol if your email program uses TLS versions 1.2 or 1.3. For security reasons, we no longer support the older TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1.

  8. Click on Next.
    A login-dialog will open up.
  9. Enter your password and click on Connect.
Your account is set up und ready to use. Click on OK to close the wizard.
How to add your email account to Outlook 2016

  1. To synchronize your emails with IMAP or POP3 you need to activate this feature in your GMX account. Click Email → Settings → POP3 & IMAP → Send and receive emails via external program [...]. Confirm the altered settings by clicking Save and start your external email program.

  3. Enter an email address to add your account.
  4. Click on Advanced options and check the box for Let me set up my account manually.
  5. Click on Connect.
  6. Choose the account type POP.

  7. Take the following settings:

Outlook 2016 retrieves the email from your GMX mailbox.
How to add your email account to Outlook 2010

  1. Click File, then Information in the submenu and the Add account button.

  2. Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click on Next.

  3. Select Internet Email and click on Next.

  4. Enter your name and email address. Select POP3 for the account type and enter pop.gmx.com as incoming server and mail.gmx.com as outgoing server. Enter your GMX username and password. Uncheck Test Account Settings by clicking the Next button. Click on More Settings.

  5. Select the Outgoing Server tab. Check My outgoing server requires authentication.

  6. Select the Advanced tab. Enter 995 next to Incoming server and check This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL). Enter 587 next to Outgoing server and select TLS as encrypted connection type (a). If a copy of your email should stay in your GMX mailbox, check Leave a copy of messages on the the server (b). Click on OK (c) and on Next (d).

  7. Click on Finish.
Outlook 2010 retrieves the email from your GMX mailbox.
How to add your email account to Outlook 2007

  1. Click on Tools and then Account Settings ....

  5. Enter your name and email address at user information. Select POP3 for the account type and enter pop.gmx.com as incoming server and mail.gmx.com as outgoing server. Enter your GMX email address and password as log in credentials. Click on More Settings.

  6. Select the Outgoing Server tab. Check My outgoing server requires authentication.
